Believe it or not, talking about money is the most uncomfortable conversational topic among Americans—it’s even more awkward than discussing the “birds and the bees,” asking adult-age children to move out, or delivering morbid news. (Northwestern Mutual, 2014 Planning and Progress Study)
Doesn’t that seem insane?
Schools don’t educate you about money, and it seems taboo to talk about it. So why are we expected to know how to handle personal finance? Generation Wealthy’s wants to fill in this informative gap by providing you with brief videos made by other young people who used to be in the dark. We’ll show you what we’ve learned on our way to financial literacy.
We are a group of millennials who see a need for easier access to clear information about personal finance. We’re doing everything in our power to make sure members of the next generation are ready to make smart financial decisions and live the lives they desire.
We are Generation Wealthy, and we invite you to join us.
The GenW team has been hard at work creating easily digestible videos to teach you about all things money, and we can’t wait to share them with you! We’ve just launched 15 new videos that cover fundamentals on various topics plus two interviews with successful professionals about their own financial education. Here are some questions we’ve tried to answer:
- How do I apply for a job? What employment laws apply to me?
- What’s the difference between a savings account and a checking account?
- What do I need to know about insurance?
- What is credit? What’s a credit score? What’s a credit report? How are they all related?
Check out our full video library here and tell us what you think. And if you like what you see, please help spread the word through your social media network.
We’ve already got a list of future topics in mind, so stay tuned for more!
